It's one of those police dramas, but with some seriously heavy psychological integrations. What's interesting is that the protagonist, Kougami Shinya, lives in an alternate 2012 where society has managed to completely eradicate all crime through the use of an elaborate Psycho-PAS machine. He doesn't think too much about his life until he stumbles upon a string of recent murders committed by unknown assailants who seem to have significant knowledge of how the Psycho-PAS system really works. The only connection that he seems to have with these events is Akane Tsunemori, a rookie inspector who is sent to observe Shinya and report back to the rest of the task force. Even though the only thing that connects them to these crimes is their past, their connection eventually turns into a bond as bizarre and twisted as those of the criminals themselves. This anime was probably one of the most thought provoking and intriguing shows I've ever seen. It left me with all kinds of deep seated thoughts about what it means to be numb to our own humanity. The undertones of this anime were so subtle and all encompassing I almost felt like it was almost too good to be true. It's one of those shows where you get all of this enticing mystery and drama, but none of the good stuff is really explained. So, if you want a show with lots of twists and turns that can't be neatly explained, then this is definitely for you! This anime is about an elite team that works to keep the Psycho-PAS of Japan under control. They go on crazy adventures and investigate some crazy crimes while also trying to stop the craziest villains imaginable. It's a crime thriller anime with some elements from psychological drama thrown in there to make it even crazier. These criminals can't be defeated by the power of the Psycho-PAS. Instead, they use it against themselves to take revenge on society. The story is driven forward by the character development of these two main characters. What starts out as a mysterious connection between them quickly evolves into something more meaningful and twisted than either of them could ever imagine. It's like you're watching two people slowly fall in love, but they don't even know each other! I really enjoyed this anime for all of the above reasons, but I'm hoping that people give this anime a try because it's an excellent show! On an island off Japan's southern coastline lies the criminal haven known as Shambala. The island's corrupt officials allowed this haven to flourish, but the crime organization has now grown powerful enough to reach across the ocean and involve itself in Japan's affairs. The Tohoku Regional Bureau set up an investigation team codenamed "Mobile Unit Division 0" in order to investigate Shambala's crimes before they spread. The team is led by Inspector Akane Tsunemori of the Public Safety Bureau Criminal Investigation Division with Enforcer Shinya Kogami as her partner. The criminal team responsible for several deaths on Shambala are identified as "SPK" by the investigation team, but this is actually an acronym for a longer phrase that means "Society for Purging the World of Decadence". cfa1e77820
